Casper’s Gives Back

Casper’s Gives Back

Part of our mission statement at Casper’s Ice Cream includes “serving our communities.”  We feel it is important to give back to our local communities which have nurtured our growth as a company and helped make us what we are today.  Below is a summary of some of the service projects that Casper’s Ice Cream has participated in during 2019:

Serving the Richmond Community

Richmond, UT has been the home of Casper’s Ice Cream for many years and was a natural choice for a service project.  We reached out to the Richmond Mayor and City Administrator about helping with several big projects that were going on in Richmond City at the time.  On November 04, 2019, Casper’s sent nearly 70 employees on the clock to Richmond City to work on projects like:

  1. Prepping and grading dirt, and laying over 20 pallets of sod around the recently installed 300 East sidewalk
  2. City Park maintenance and improvements like fresh woodchips in the playground, fresh sand in the volleyball pit, raking leaves, and laying sod in needed areas
  3. Garbage and brush removal and trail clean-up at the Richmond City Nature Park
  4. Leaf Raking at the Richmond City Cemetery

By the end of the day, our Casper’s Ice Cream had donated a combined 500 hours of work for Richmond City!

Assembling Thanksgiving Meals

On the week of Thanksgiving, Casper’s Ice Cream sent a trailer full of FatBoy Ice Cream Sandwiches, along with a few of our employees, to the Preston Idaho Food Pantry to help assemble and hand out hundreds of Thanksgiving Dinner boxes (with ice cream dessert!).  This has become an annual tradition for Casper’s, and one that we have grown to love as we help local community members enjoy a happy and delicious Thanksgiving holiday. This year, the temperatures dropped, and the snow flew while our team stood outside to distribute boxes, but they all came back with rosy cheeks and smiling faces.

Comfort Blankets

It was another cold day outside on December 30th, but inside the plant at Casper’s Ice Cream over 30 employees were making things warm and cozy for children in need.  As part of our service initiative, Casper’s Ice Cream allowed employees to step off the production line and spend the morning cutting fleece fabric and tying blankets to donate to the local Little Lambs organization.    In just a few hours, 107 warm blankets were made and packaged up for delivery. These comfort blankets will be used as part of comfort kits created by Little Lambs. Little Lambs Foundation for Kids is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides diapers and baby supplies to low-income families and comfort kits to children who are placed in foster-care, entering emergency shelters and escaping domestic violence. The employees had a great time working together on this project, and there were employees from each of the  plant departments participating in the project. The laughter and camaraderie was evident, and we heard lots of comments that our team enjoyed giving back to our community.

In each of these projects, our employees expressed appreciation for opportunities to participate in these acts of service.  In the coming year, Casper’s will continue to look for opportunities to put company resources toward supporting our communities and allowing employee participation in these types of service events.
