A Reason to Celebrate

A Reason to Celebrate

When Casper Merrill first developed his infamous FatBoy Ice Cream novelties back in 1925, we wonder if he ever envisioned his company would be one of the nation’s leading manufacturers of ice cream and frozen treats. And yet, 95 years later, that’s exactly where we’re at today.

Back in 1925, a simple farm boy used his family’s milk and cream from their cows to freeze in rectangular molds, then dipped them into warm chocolate and peanuts to develop his first Ice Cream Sundae Nut Bars. He sold these bars at a local celebration for Independence Day. From his first sale, the people fell in love and craved more. And now, 95 years later, the customers still are in love (and still crave) these delicious frozen treats.

But it’s not just the amazing taste of these mouthwatering desserts that has made Casper’s Ice Cream so successful. (Although it definitely helps that the recipe today is nearly the same as what originated in 1925). In fact, ask any business owner or entrepreneur how easy it is to start up your own business and they’ll explain how difficult it really is. Reports indicate that the average life span of a company is just 10 years, and 20% of small businesses fail in their first year, 30% of small business fail in their second year, and 50% of small businesses fail after five years in business. On top of that, businesses in the food industry are among the highest failing business industries.

So how did Casper’s become so successful? How else do we celebrate this important and huge milestone? There’s a few reasons, actually:

1. Customers

Without customers, Casper’s wouldn’t be where it is today. YOU are one of the MAIN reasons our company has made it this long, and will continue to be so successful. Our customers are the driving force behind everything we do. You want the best of ice cream, and we deliver because our customers are important to us. We listen to what our customers have to say. Your opinions are important to us, and we value your feedback. When the customers are happy, WE are happy!

2. Hardworking Employees

Our employees are the glue that holds this company together. Without them, Casper’s wouldn’t be where it is today. From our production crew, to our factory workers, to our marketing team, customer service employees, and our delivery drivers, our employees are among the cream of the crop. Their hard work and passion for our company knows no limits. They perform above and beyond our customers’ expectations and are a crucial part of our business. We value every employee.

3. Good Management

While Casper Merrill isn’t alive today, we’re certain he’d be pleased with the way his family (and currently grandson, Paul Merrill) has managed his company. Not only have they instituted sound business plans that have given back to the local community and helped the local economy thrive, but they’ve planned for growth and kept up with rising demands. Recently Casper’s expanded its operational facilities in Richmond, Utah, to fully service the high demands across the entire nation.

Additionally, Casper’s continues to innovate and provide the finest quality of frozen products. From FatBoy sandwiches and sundaes, to cones, gluten-free treats, FreezePops, and ice cream tubs, Casper’s is constantly staying up to speed with the latest trends to keep everyone satisfied and smiling.

Let’s Celebrate

It’s no easy task growing a business into something so successful like Casper’s Ice Cream. But like good ol’ Casper Merrill used to say, “Anything is hard if you work at it easy, and easy if you work at it hard.” We couldn’t be more thankful for the countless people who have worked so hard and contributed to the 95 years of success at Casper’s Ice Cream. Because of Casper’s, the FatBoy brand has grown around the country and is known for its incredibly delicious taste and its creamy, high-quality flavor that has the nation constantly begging for more.

Thank YOU for being a part of our success. We look forward to the next 95 years of business. Come celebrate with us by losing yourself in your favorite FatBoy frozen treat and dancing with us as we sing the popular song by Kool and The Gang, “Celebrate good times, come on!”
